Perhaps Exxon should take an interest in this. Nudge Nudge Wink Wink.

“A report in Nature Communications shows the material can preferentially soak up organic pollutants such as industrial chemicals or engine oil…  The powder soaked up as much as 33 times its own weight in the chemical ethylene glycol and 29 times its own weight of engine oil. Even still, the saturated powder floats on water.”

About D.Dinius

I am big on education, animals, and nature. So following that sentence I think it's important to be smart and animals and nature bring clarity and a calmness to things. I am new to actually paying attention and having opinions. This has been building well for about the last year. :)

  1. well now that is interesting. Would like to see this tried out on one of the many spills of late to see how well it works. Would be nice for people to use at home also when car fuels get spilled instead of cat litter which tends to be the go-to in driveways and garages.

  2. I would love to see this tried on the oil spills too! Bet it works better than the paper towels they were using. Sounds like it would soak a good amount of it up then all you would have to do is skim the top with something to take it out! 🙂
